Concert Review #1; Beethoven Mass in C
On Saturday, March 3rd 2012 I went to the Boettcher Concert residency to see the Colorado Symphony perform Beethovens Mass in C major. This concert was entertaining and a great experience, especially considering I had never been to a headmaster event like this originally. Being able to see primary how the audience dressed, most of which were in their Sunday best, was something I was cheery I prepared for, had I non taken this layer I might have showed up in jeans and a t-shirt. Before attending, I was not aware that the root shape up run violin, known as the concertmaster, entered the stage and took a bow before the conductor did the same. Beethovens Mass in C was a very emotional piece, ranging from moments of happiness during some movements, scarcely overall a very somber and dramatic feel. Had this check up on not been required I might have never attended, but after seeing a professional music live, I am glad I did, it was an experience I will never forget and hope to have again sometime in the near future.
Before delving into the symphony itself, I feel it is necessary to provide a brief bio for not only the composers and their works performed, but for the featured performers as well. The first piece performed was Prelude to Hansel and Gretel, by Engelbert Humperdinck.
Engelbert Humperdinck was a German composer during the age of romanticism. He was born in Siegburg, Germany in September of 1854 and died in Neustrelitz in September of 1921. He is most famous for authorship Hansel and Gretel, which was dispassionate between 1890 and 1893, and first premiered in December of 1893. He was asked to provide a few songs for a show his child and her children were to put on at their home, which ended up expanding into a full length opera.
