Ethnic Groups and Discrimination ETH/125 University of Phoenix The ethnic group that I chose is African Americans. I am of Dominican and Haitian decent. I was natural in a small town Upstate vernal York. At the tender age of two I was brought to have sex in Brooklyn NY. I was raised in a perdominantly black Neighborhood. Through the years I have comprehend many stories from the parents and grandparents of many of my friends. I have perceive stories some their family having to face segregation, racism, damage,and descrimination. I knew that this was all true because I was in any case learning about it in school. Most African Amercans lived in southern states such as North Carolina, South Carolina, tabun etc. In these states slavery was very serious. African Americans were treated and looked at as property. They were bought, sold and due to that families were separated. There was a point in time where African Americans were given a hard time to do anything. There opinions were not heard and they werent able to make decisions about anything on their own. In the times of the Civil Rights Movement Whites felt as if they were make better than the colored folks. Looking back at the geezerhood of Segregation, blacks were treated as if they were stupid.

They couldnt use the same bathrooms, they had to go to different schools, they had to eat at different restaurants, live in different communities. They had to board different buses and if on the bus with whites they had to go to the back of the bus. These option were not by choice they were hale upon them. African Americans were definitely affected by Redlining and Dual labor market in the early stages of liberation. They did not have access to a good education and some did not have access to an education at all. flat those who had a little education only had access to depressive dis redact paying jobs and were kept in a poor class.
