End of Segregation, Discrimination and Isolation (DRAFT)

Slavery began in British labor union America around 1619, when a Dutch ship brought 20 enslaved Africans to the Virginia Colony at Jamestown, it remnanted nearly 240 years subsequent when 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was passed and thraldom was officially ended. Although slavery was no longer legal, the African American endured an arduous journey to end requisition, discrimination and closing off in the American community. After slavery became unconstitutional, racial segregation was a system derived from the efforts of bloodless Americans to limit African Americans in a subordinate status by denying them equal access to everyday facilities and ensuring that colored people lived unconnected from whites, attended different schools, and were allotted different sections in public transportation. (Lawson, 2010). This system was primarily a result of the unfitness of white Americans to adapt or change what had been custom.
That is, during the era of slavery, a mass of African Americans resided in the South in mainly unsophisticated areas, and most white Americans believed that black African Americans were an inferior die hard capable of no more than manual labor and thus entitled to only the most basic legal rights. The inability of white Americans to adapt, or accept change in what would today legally be an equal society was meet by African Americans with both appeasement and resistance. In this paper I will discuss how African Americans worked to end segregation, discrimination and isolation by means of both appeasement and resistance.
