This paper studies a case of a twelve year-old named Joshua who was diagnosed with Dysthymic Dis regularize (300.4) which is a type of chronic depression. first gear is a infirmity that affects ones mind and in the case of Joshua it became detriment to his school work and relationship with his family. Joshua was considered to be gifted and at the same time underachiever. This poor performance in school led him to have low self-esteem. This disease led him to a crisis where he ends up throwing his final side of meat exam into the trash can and threatens to be suicidal by saying Let my family see me dead (Golden 2002). There were incidents that were observable in Joshuas life that were identified as signs of immature depression, like social withdrawal, apathy, refusing to communicate, poor school performance and blind anger. Joshuas family is composed of the father, Raul, mother, Beverly and younger brother Sidney. The father was preclude with his current job which is working at an advertising sureness as a copywriter but his dream was to be a novelist.
Beverly, an assistant principal at a public school, is a real ambitious and she is very disappointed to see her preserve without goals and passive. She feels that her husband lacks the sense of responsibility and proper use of allowance with his family and especially with his sons.
She feels he needs to be firm and offer a good parent image and get take in with his kids.
Sidney is an intelligent student, handsome and bright. He skipped a year and is in the same grade as his older brother who is one year older than him. Joshua feels frustrated competing with his brother who is a very sharp boy who excels in school and at everything he does. There is sibling rivalry between Joshua and Sidney mainly because Joshua feels that his parents cognise Sidney more because he is perfect in every way.
