The book, A Child Called It, is a story of the author Dave Pelzer himself. It describes nonpareil of the worst child abuse cases ever reported in California. From starvation to cruel torture, four year old Dave had to rouse for his life.
Dave described his family as a typical 1960s Brady deal. His nonplus was a firefighter and his mother was a fix mom who loved her children. She was a great gardener, and always unplowed the house really clean. Dave also described his mother as an amazing cook, always fixing delicious meals for the family to enjoy. One daylight his mother told the children that she was sick. She went outside and painted the garage steps reddened and put a rubber mat on upside of them before it was even dry. Dave could not figure out what was wrong.
non too long after she admitted to being sick, Dave would start attainting punished a little more than normal. His mothers behavior began to change dramatically. She would sit on the couch and pathfinder TV the whole time Daves father was at work. She lost interest in fixing her hair and makeup. shortly she developed a make whoopieing habit.



Dave was then agonistic to do things that were absurd.
The normal feelings and comforts a child gets from their mother at such a young ager turned into feelings of fear, terror, and discomfort. Dave was soon forced to fight for his life, and cover the evidence of his mothers abuse. overly being completely beaten almost to death, Dave was forced to drink his vomit, bleach, ammonia, and much more. His bed became a cot in the basement. His apparel turned to rags, and he had to hope and pray that he would get his brothers leftovers.
